The Iron Knight is a clear example of how Volvo continues to reinvent itself with products full of innovation and that are increasingly committed to electromobility in order to ensure a sustainable future, in which polluting emissions are reduced to minimum levels thanks to its range of electric cars and those that are powered by hydrogen.
This truck comes with a number of features that make it a very interesting option and that in fact has been impressing the sector since 2016 by breaking several world records. This heavy vehicle has been manufactured through the collaboration of important brands such as Goodyear, but what makes this truck so remarkable compared to other models on the market to the point of earning a space in these contents?
Features Behind the Iron Knight’s Efficiency
Focusing on the characteristics of the Iron Knight, we cannot leave out its interesting 13-liter 6-cylinder engine that comes equipped with 4 turbochargers to complement the power that the vehicle enjoys. Commenting on some of the benefits of its engine, we are looking at about 2,400 horsepower with about 6,000 Nm, which facilitates its acceleration that goes from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds, reaching a top speed of 276 km/h, something undoubtedly remarkable for a truck that weighs about 4.5 tons in its current version.
The engine and horsepower are an essential part of the success of the Iron Knight and any other land vehicle, but nevertheless, the tires are an element that cannot fail to be perfected in order to match that power and deliver the greatest possible functionality during those long journeys in which the driver’s own experience is also tested. That said, the Goodyear tires on this truck are designed to ensure maximum performance with 315/70R22.5 specifications that were specially modified for this particular model.
An extra interesting fact about these tires is that they base their design on those that were used in the Goodyear European Truck Racing Championship (ETRC) organized by the FIA.
His outstanding records
The records set by Volvo’s Iron Knight have not gone unnoticed, and this truck already has some very remarkable ones such as having reached a speed of 169.09 km/h in 21.29 seconds and having achieved 500 meters in 13.71 seconds at a speed of 131.29 km/h, leaving lovers of these products powered by electromobility shocked.
Volvo’s work with the Iron Knight, in collaboration with other major brands, shows that the future of electric vehicles is more than bright, promising a higher quality logistics industry for both the companies involved and the end customers who have increasingly higher expectations when it comes to receiving their packages in less time and with almost non-existent setbacks.
