India seeks to break through and grow in the shipping industry through shipbuilding centers by raising funds.
The government of this country is promoting policies through the Ministry of Ports, Maritime Transport and Waterways, for which an investment of one hundred million dollars is estimated.
The road to shipbuilding
Different strategies have been established to achieve this goal, among which are: tax incentives, promotion of demand and long-term financing, prioritizing the benefits of this initiative among those that mention the generation of jobs, the strengthening of the supply chain and the promotion of clean technologies.
A challenge for 2030
India’s entry into the maritime market reflects a sum of benefits for the nation and for the market in general, but this represents a challenge for global competition as the construction of mega naval yards constitutes an ambitious bet for investors, who although they could be part of the great transformation of the market, skilled labor is required that could currently be very expensive.
Although the project will be tendered, the investment required is still a priority, although the Government of India has announced that it will oversee the development of basic infrastructure such as roads to facilitate access and the payment and installation of the basic services of this shipbuilding.
While the success of this ambitious project will depend on the training of skilled labor and private sector cooperation, India is positioned as a strategic player towards 2030, with the potential to transform the maritime industry and strengthen its economy.
